Review:
Within York’s City Screen Picturehouse cinema there is an ideally situated café bar which looks out directly onto the river. With a light airy open feel of modernist glass and concrete pillars interspersed with comfy sofas and small tables this is defiantly more of a café than a bar. The glass front and decked area by the river are perfect for connecting with the riverside, a great area to watch the sun set. Although we feel it is less of a primary drinking destination and more of a great accompaniment to watching a film or when visiting an event in the basement, mainly due to its quite steep prices. There were a few real ales on, which is always good to see, mixed with other bottles and more continental choices, a reasonable range for a café indeed. Members of the Cinema do get 10% discount though, which would help a little. Sharing the toilets with the rest of the cinema means they come out on top in that area, we can’t not give a high score to somewhere that has Dyson Airblades. As part of the cinema we would wholly recommend it as one of the best café bars with a unique picturesque location and excellent access.
