-Dusk-
Review:
Situated on the bustling late night New Street Dusk is a popular Café Bar which is generally frequented by students. It has some issues with layout as the main room is very cramped with the bar taking over the majority of the space, when it’s busy it can be very hard to reach anywhere in the building. It’s also a bit tired and tatty despite frequent licks of paint. The toilets are horrendous, possibly the worst in York, if you can avoid them do! There’s limited seating downstairs and a small room on the first floor which is definitely more café than bar. During the day it could be quite a peaceful stop but on evenings, especially given its late licence, it’s quite a raucous place. Its main redeeming features are the good sized on-street outside area and the roof terrace, if it’s open. They are generally focused on cocktails; the overall quality of beer served isn’t great considering how expensive and limited the selection is. Despite the size the access is pretty good on the bottom floor with an accessible toilet directly to hand. The place has remained unchanged for many years now and seems to do a roaring trade, but if you’re into your beers and a bit more of a low-key night out like us then Dusk is probably better avoided.
