Review:
The Royal Oak is a beautifully presented 15th Century pub on Goodramgate, consisting of a couple of small bar rooms and a dining area. The dining room is very plush with a lovely conservatory roof but only accessible if you’re eating. The decor is a stylish mix of modern vintage and they have a reasonable selection of beers across their small bar. It’s not the cheapest pub by any means but it’s a pleasant enough friendly gastro pub aiming more towards the high end of the market. The toilets are also on the second floor and due to the age of the building and its size it is a tad cramped. They have a very tiny little yarden which has a beautiful mural to the rear with only really space for half a dozen people but if you get it to yourself it is rather quaint. The Royal Oak is a nice all round pub and the recent refurbishment in 2019 really adds to the high class quality, it's just the high prices which let it down a bit, otherwise it's certainly worth popping in.
