Review:
The Stone Roses bar is exactly what you’d expect from the name; an Indie and Rock live music based venue rather than a standard pub, and this is really what the place is focused on. With the usual mix of students and Indie Rock types it’s a very lively place with plenty to keep you occupied, two pool tables, live free music every night and then DJs till the early hours. The décor is very Britpop with a huge mural to The Stone Roses, big pop art prints of Oasis and the suchlike as well as a Chopper bike suspended from the ceiling and a cool looking scooter. These are the positive points though, as you can imagine with such a young student-y crowd the place can get really rammed and loud, the toilets can only be described as piss-soaked, no better than a hole in the floor really. The beer is terrible too, just a couple of Ice Cold Smooth types and crappy generic lager, average prices but not really a selling point. Just think of it as a live music venue and you’ll probably be fine, the music was pretty good when we were there but I can’t imagine we’ll be back any time soon.
