Review:
The Terrace is situated on the busy corner of The Stonebow and Fossgate, an unassuming building which is home to a pretty standard and traditional sport orientated bar. The décor is rather dated and their long bar stretches almost the entire back wall with booths situated opposite. Despite the large bar there were just four very standard real ales available, albeit for a pretty reasonable price. This is more the kind of bar that would attract the sport loving lager drinkers, as can be seen from slightly threatening warning notices about swearing, chanting and excessive noise posted behind the bar. There’s plenty to keep you entertained though and lots of big screens throughout, including one tucked away in the side yard. A rather grim concrete walled area looking out onto the 1960’s monstrosity of Stonebow House. This bar looks pretty much unchanged for years, catering well for sporting events obviously, but really does need improvement as there are plenty of other much nicer sports bars in York. It’s all pretty basic and functional, nothing that would tempt us back even if we did like sport.
